This is Kuya Munday, he’s my yayo (he’s gay) since i was 3 years old. He took me to school, he fixed my hair, dressed me up, he fed me ( as in sinusubuan ako ng breakfast kasi sobrang tamad ko up until i was in my 5th grade yata). The first 8 years of my life that felt like i was the only child, he was there to make me laugh to play with me to not make me feel alone. He went with me to all my Trick or Treating nights. He was there during my first heart break. Fetched me after my cheering practices. He helped me get out of trouble with my parents by covering me up. By the time i knew how to drink, he was also there to drink with me and take care of me. He was my longest best friend. I was there when he had a baby and i loved her like she was my baby sister. He had done nothing but good to our family. We trusted him with everything.

A little less than 2 years ago, we found out he had an inborn heart disease. The doctors said he didn’t have that much time. We sent him home to the province with his kids so he could rest since life is very stressful here in Manila. We would text each other, update each other with what was happening in our lives and just plain chat.

Last week he texted “Ate To0tz.. Gud morning! Kamusta ka na? malapit na yata ako” guess what, i didnt reply, WHY? Because i didn’t have load. And it was finals week. And i was so stressed.

Last night my dad texted ” Munday is dead ” gumuho mundo ko. I didnt know what to do, How to react.. I didnt know how to help because he’s all the way in Iloilo and my dad wont allow me to go there. I talked to his brother, he told me kuya munday left me a letter before he died, sobra akong mas naguilty. I love him so much it hurts. Ganito pala yung feeling na namatayan ng malapit talaga sa puso mo. It hurts that i didn’t get to say goodbye. I didn’t get to say goodbye and i know he’s never coming back. I should’ve replied to him, a simple text would maybe relieve his pain.

To kuya munday, i owe you who i am right now. I know you’re happy up there, and you deserve to be up there. I promise to take care of your children when i have the resources to do so. Sorry kung umiiyak ako, sabi mo wag ako iiyak and dapat uminom kami nila kuya kadyo pag namatay ka. Pero sorry hindi ko talaga kaya. Enjoy ka jan. i love you. You will forever be in my heart.
